Rebuilding a Caloi, Help needed
I recently finished refurbing a late 80's Cannondale, and after showing it to a friend, I was promptly sent home with his Caloi.
The bike is pretty rough, but he would like me to try and get the parts to put it back together again. Is there a particular section here, that would be of more help to me, than this area?
I have no idea about the bike, other than it is a 21 speed. The decals are in bad shape, so I can't make out a name. I can post photos, once I find the area of best assistance.
Thank you,
Brad

You have just a frame or does it have other parts on it too? There is a photo of a Caloi in this thread. If it looks like the one in that thread, it probably had pricey components when new.

It is an entire bike, but the "correct" rear wheel is missing. It currently has a 5 speed cassette on this wheel, but the other difference is the most obvious. The front wheel is a Gipiemme, and it has woven spokes. I have never seen such a thing before. The owner would like to get a matching rear wheel, with a 7 speed cluster. The only other thing I would like to fix, are the paddle shifters. The previous owner, rather than replace the assembly, added lever shifters on the handlebars.
All this is of course, dependent on the cost of these items, but I told my friend I would see what I could find. I was fortunate enough that my Black Lightning frame, handlebars and seat were given to me, and I just had to find two complete wheelsets, as well as a couple of other small bits. I hope he isn't fooled into thinking that since I did mine for a reasonable cost, that his will cost about the same.
Thank you for your replies. Should I post the photos of the bike and woven spoke wheel here?
