From left to right...Colnago, Merckx, Raleigh, GT(used) and another Colnago. All NOS and none are for sale. 5 years ago back flips would have been done to sell this stuff, now that its vintage its 'eye candy' I though it was buy low and sell high?

BTW..see those pinstripes on the wall? I painted those.....almost 20 years ago. And the ceiling? Painted that too. You have to do something during those cold northeastern winters to stay busy!!!

I scrapped it with wide putty knives and treated it with BINZ primer. Its an old building with a flat tar roof that was notorious for leaking.

Thse 3 Bianchis arent for sale either. The nearest one still has its $1800 price tag and I offered to buy it but was told to 'make an offer'. Sorry, Jim doesnt make offers. I prefer to be given a price to which I can counter. At the same shop they had an NOS Serrota from the 80's (for sale still with its $895 tag) 2-Trek 730's with full 531 tubing a full 531 Puch. Supposedly they have alot of 70's and 80's vintage stuff in storage that they didnt want to be bothered with looking through. I offered to buy it all.

Would you pay $1800, or $895? After all, they're price tags, right?

You would probably offend the jerks by offering the price hanging off of it:

"Are you kidding? That's the price it was new! Don't you understand that this is a 'vintageveryrarevaluablecollecableBianchiwithveryvaluablecampagnolo,' you birdbrain? It's worth 10 times the price on that hang tag! Get out of my shop, you dilettante - you're not a Serious Collector!"

And that was the dilema. What do you offer for something that 20 years old yet 'new' that has the old price tag on it? I had feeling the owner was trying to see what someone was willing to pay verus actualy accepting an offer.

Those framsets are up on a wall in Babcocks Bikes in Endicott, NY. I worked for previous owner from '84-'96. Kevin, the owner of Babcocks, had a shop down the street and bought out the owner I worked for 3 years ago.
