Basso? Sante? Fresche? Could you kind folks clue in the rest of us? I take it from the context those are names of famous builders, but I never heard of them -- not that I'm familiar with bicycle builders. Could you fill in the story? And how can you tell who built a bike by looking at it? I never heard of this bike before, either.
Sante Pogliaghi was the builder/owner of the original name. He grew too big to build his own bikes and farmed them out to a variety of subcontracting manufacturers in the early 80's. The bikes' manufacturers are recognized by the approximate vintage based on the serial number in this case, although there are people here who can tell a Basso from a Rossin, just by the construction.
