Schwinn Varsity Handlebar question
I have a 1970 Schwinn Varsity, which has riser, or upright, bars with Schwinn grips that match the green paint. I am wondering if they weren't swapped, as all the Varsities I've seen have drops. Is it possible that this bike could have come with stock upright bars? Thanks.

Yes Schwinn did make Varsities with upright bars but could yours be a 1969? Working from memory here but I think the Varsity Tourist (upright bars) was replaced by the Suburban in 1970.

Here's the catalog for 1968. They came in the version you describe. In a way, they were a 10 speed version of a Collegiate with 27" wheels--- which morphed into the Suburban as KerryP has mentioned.
