Lets talk about gold Colnagos...

So whats the deal with them? Where they regular production bikes? Anniversary bikes? I did a little searching and didnt come up with much.

Yes...and it piqued my curiosity. I've always been a fan of the gold plated bikes, in particular the Miyatas and 50th anniversary Schwinn. I've always said to myself that if I came across a 54cm gold Paramount I'd buy it if the price was within reason.

I did my due diligence and searched for info on the Colnagos and came up empty (aside from catalog scans). Some of the newer ones are obviously anniversary bikes but the older ones...well, there isnt much info out there.

When were they made? Why were they made? etc.....

There's a Ciocc with some gold-plated parts on Dobbin's page too....perhaps it was a trend for many bike-makers at a certain time?
