I dunno but it looks scary. Is the threading in the alluminum or is there a steel "nut" inserted from the bottom? Check for cracks originating from the hole in the bottom black part. Stems with behind the bar bolts are known for failing. I used a modolo for a while that was in really good shape (apparently). Then I inspected as per the advice of someone and sure enough if I looked close it was cracking from the bolt hole. Scary stuff!

The threading is on the top part of the stem. The bolt that goes from the bottom to the top is steel though. It's never been actually used as it was given to me by my LBS, who said it was taken off a bike that was sold a long time ago. It has a few scratches from being in a box with other nice, unused parts for a while.

The fact that the bolt goes through the bottom means that on the under side the alloy is even thinner where the bolt head goes. That is where is cracks will apear first. If you decide to use it, watch it closely, though you'd probably have to ride a lot and on rough roads etc... to make it fail anytime soon.
