Raleigh RRA

Did anyone here have one? It was my first racing bike,in 1974. I was working in a Raleigh shop at the time, and recall it wasn't in the Raleigh catalogue. Does anyone know details about this bike?

Would not mind having one in the stable.

Wow... I didn't know vertical dropouts even existed in those years, I thought that was a late 80's thing. Anyways, it seems like a really nice, presumably rare, bike. I'd like one myself if Raleighs didn't always come with longer TT's than I like.

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

1974 would have been the best year for them from that era. Was the only year after they downgraded it in the 60's to have a 531 frame.

I remember Turin Bike Shop in Chicago had a few of those. They sold very quick. And it was a one time shipment. Very nice racing bike at a great price. If I remember right it sold for around $225.00.

I thought so too, but this is the second one of these I've seen. Makes me wonder ...

Yes,it had verticle dropouts, but thinner, Campy Sport ones. It was $325 at our shop when an International was $385. Are you saying RRA was a Raleigh model for many years?
They were all white white a yellow head tube and yellow bumble bee stripes on the seat tube. Some brothers I rode with had Jacksons painted the same way. I think the bikes were made in 1973.

Bikes: '73 Raleigh RRA, 1986 Trek 500 commuter

I still have one (RRA). They were only built one year, although Raleigh has recycled the RRA or Raleigh Record Ace model name a few times (going back to the '50s). The 1974 ones were as you say all white with the 5 goldenrod yellow stripes on the seat tube and the head tube painted the same color. Nervex lugs, campy vertical dropuots. Originally they were equipped with all French components: Stronglight 99 crank, Stronglight headset, Simplex metal deraileurs, Maillard hubs, Weinmann 500 sidepulls, etc. There was no Professional available that year for some reason (that was what I had wanted). I traded my International frame to a guy for mine (frame swap), and built it up with the Campy stuff from the International Pics in the classic and vintage rides section from last year; must be archived now as I can't find them?

EDIT: Found them: https://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...postcount=1538

Campy has vertical dropouts listed in Catalog 16 (1969):
