riding a penny Farthing

Hello I am new to the forum. I ride road bike and have ridden for many years.
My question today is if there are any penny farthing owners/riders out there that would be willing to give me a quick training sessison and allow me to try out there hiwheeler? It can eb a modern version of one, ot doesn't really matter. I live in Southwest Denver,CO.
I have made contact with a gentleman in Golden and he is not interested in helping me, so If that is anyones suggestion I have tried taht already.
This is just somthing I would like to say I have done!

Very interesting article. Those were "men" to be able to complete a century on a Penny Farthing. I would like to find one myself. I found a replica of one that stands about 10" high so I could say I have one in the collection..

penny farthing

www.thewheelmen.org Check out this site - they might be able to put you in touch with someone in your area. I used to be a member, but, living in the U.K., I let my membership lapse more than 20 years ago - so all my information is probably out of date.

High wheel bicycles were really something else. And, back in the day they rode on dirt roads!

If you come to DC I will gladly give you lessons. There is a guy in CO who has something like 50 PFs, but I doubt he will let someone ride one. People are always wrecking mine.

I have the same exact one. It is a set of 4 or 5. I found them at a Goodwill store for $3.00

Mark Twain wrote a tutorial of sorts on riding a penny-farthing.
Read it - you'll be riding in no time.
