Hi ozneddy,

I like taking the odd photo of my bikes but I don't have any group shots of my Aussie bikes. It's really great to see them all at once.

Here are some other group shots of my Italian bikes and my track bikes. Thanks for the opportunity to show some of them.

Man, thats quite an impressive collection. I have only two road bikes that are of the caliber of your's compared to your vast collection. It would take a full time job just to keep track of, and maintain what you have. Still, thats pretty damn cool. Which ones are your favorites??

Spinz 02-03-09 07:26 AM

Impressive ---- I really like the Colnagos and the lone Pinarello. Very nice ---- Lp

scozim 02-03-09 07:37 AM

Wow - I just started my collection and it is very modest compared to that - what awesome bikes.

You've got it bad. Seek help NOW. :p

That old celeste Bianchi is my favorite, stunning. I also figured out where all the frame pumps ended up.

Any tips on starting my own captive breeding program?

ozneddy 02-03-09 04:02 PM

If you were to open a bike museum Gary I would buy a lifetime pass !

purevl 02-03-09 05:47 PM

Very nice!

What is the small gray cylinder clamped behind the older Bianchi's seat tube? Patch kit? Also what's up with the burnout bars on the track bike in the rear of the first picture?

Im blinded by such beauty!

Mickey 02-03-09 07:28 PM

Gratulation! All the bikes are looking like race bikes...no spacer towers, no stems looking to the sky, no handlebars over the top of the saddle, no mountain bike pedals, no saddles with 5 pound gel.
A very stylish collection! Thanks for the pics!

Not sure this is what you wanted to see!? My collection to boardtrack motorcycle inspired bikes.

Very cool. Different, creative and stylish.

Downtube shifters all around! Praise the lord!

Hi purevl,

The grey cylinder is a tyre inflator. The Italian Campionissimo, Fausto Coppi, had one on his Bianchi when he won the world championship at Lugano in 1953. As my Bianchi is of a similar vintage, I decided to set it up as a bit of a tribute to Fausto. The number is the same and the tyre inflator is in a similar position (but I have a frame pump as a back-up). Fausto's was a red cylinder but i've only seen one in real life - and I wasn't able to buy it.

...and the track bike. It's an Aussie built Beretto. Great bike to ride and everything's early 80's aero.

I simply love boardtrackfan's collection. Really good fun. Outstanding.

I can't remember ever seeing such nice bikes all in one place. Great job and a super nice collection.

Gary, can I borrow your ute to take some stuff up to the tip? What is it, an XR8? I promise I won't do any burnouts.

Gary Fountain 02-04-09 05:35 AM

Great eye for detail classic1. It was a beaut ute....but I sold it. Got a Stato. now; miss the ute though.

(do you thing any other forum members (ozneddy excluded) knows what we're talking about?)

Wonderful bikes. I love the style. Are they originals, though, or have you built the frames yourself? I wonder because the term "boardtrack motorcycle inspired bikes suggests you built them.

That's neat, for some reason I always assumed those things made their appearance in the 80s, what's old is new again. I like the scale model as well!

That Beretto is slicker than snot on a glass doorknob, I definitely have a pursuit bike fetish. However, it's not the bike I was asking about. Perhaps "burnout bar" is too much of a colloquialism to make it to your hemisphere. I was asking about the bike in front of the Beretto, the one that has its drops flipped upside down.

Seppos need to learn to embrace the ute.

Ozneddy, I'd borrow your utes too but 2000km is bit far to travel to go to the tip.

Thanks for the praise. The orange bike started life as a pre WWII Wards Hawthorne. I built the fork and the "tank". The black bike with the X on the tank is a Firebikes frame with my own custom built fork and seat mounts. The black and white frame is a1950s Hawthorne with a modern triple tree fork. The green "Harley" is a 1960s Evans bike with a Chinese 2-stroke engine. The fork on that bike is a 1950s Monark springer.

Gary Fountain 02-04-09 11:51 PM

Great bikes boardtrackfan. You must have a great eye for what goes with what and plenty of skill to be able to build your own forks. Thanks for the info.

Sorry purevl, I didn't understand. The bike (I think) you're refering to is my 'shopping' bike. Its an old Aussie built track frame with some interesting parts i.e. large flanged Prior hubs and an inch pitch drive train. No toe clips so I can wear normal footwear to the shop. No brakes - who needs them at the pace I ride it at. (It's probably my most ridden bike.)

Ozneddy - sounds like a couple of great utes mate. The XP must be a classic.

Shopping bike? I can't even get my hands on anything decent with track drops around here...

JJ Special. Is that out of JJ Stewarts old shop? A couple of years ago I was up at Bendigo for the Madison and had a yap to JJ, who was down from Ozneddys neck of the woods. Hadn't seen him for about 15 years. He's still the same.

I can remember him still having a race with the pros in the 1970's. He must have been in his late 40's or early 50's then, and was still using the old inch pitch stuff
