From: South of Raleigh, North of New Hill, East of Harris Lake, NC

Bikes: Specialized Tarmac, Specialized Roubaix, Giant OCR-C, Specialized Stumpjumper FSR, Stumpjumper Comp, 88 & 92Nishiki Ariel, 87 Centurion Ironman, 92 Paramount, 84 Nishiki Medalist

ILB, That's a nice ride for that money. I picked up a 87 Record a couple of years ago, added new tires, changed the saddle, replaced the chain, lubed and cleaned it up. I bought it to flip. And as soon as I get done riding it, I'm gonna flip it,..... in a few more years .
I think Raleigh made some nice entry level bikes in the 80s that have very nice ride qualities. I sincerely hope you are as impressed with yours as I am with mine. I know these bikes are not high end, but in their original and current price range, IMHO they certainly hold their own.
Good luck with it.
