specialized sequoia

, im looking at a specialized sequoia of unknown age.. it does have the "special series" tubing and a cyclone rear derailleur. He is asking 270 which I think is a very reasonable price. Was this even with the expedition in terms of quality? but just more geared towards sports/touring? Thanks for the help!

That is a huge frame. Sorry I can't help with the question.

I know less than nothing about Specialized bikes, but have seen Sequoia's sell on eBay for considerably more than the asking price for yours. I wouldn't hesitate if it's as nice as it seems to be in the photo. For some reason I'm remembering that the Sequoia was the first Specialized road bike but I could be wrong.

Bikes: 1993 Specialized Allez Pro, 1984 Trek 520, 198? Ross Mt St Helens, 1980 Raleigh Super Gran Prix, 197? Raleigh Gran Prix SS City Banger, 2012 Lynskey ProCross Disc

some good info in this thread and this thread

Seems that with the 36 spoke wheels and the caliper brakes it was more a sports tourer and not intended for fully loaded touring.
At that price, and in a most likely very hard to find size, that's probably a really good deal.

For catalog info, join the miyataspectour group on Yahoo groups and check out their old Specialized catalogs. I haven't looked at them in a while, but I believe what you're saying is true, that the Sequoia was just as nice as the Expedition but was a sports tourer rather than a full-on loaded touring bike.
