Ofmega America

My Alan came with this headset which I've never seen before.

a search in the forums returns basically nothing about Ofmega America. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Where there other America parts? What vintage is it?

Looks like the 'Regina America' branded stuff, maybe circa 1992? Don't really know much about it other than it pops up on ebay occasionally.

Is Ofmega affiliated with Regina in any way?

Not sure. Here's a thread with some (not much) speculation:

It is without a doubt, a Regina America headset and yes, made by Ofmega. The RD in an earlier tread was proven to be an Ofmega and I saw somewhere a casting mark on one of the components that reads 'Ofmega Italy' (I think t was the crank. I have a full groupset packed away but it doesn't include that headset. The Ofmga branded version sells for around $35 and I'd love to have the one we're discussing. PM me

Danny

Beyond the fact that they're both based in Italy, I don't think so. Ofmega used to be Magistroni, which was a very long established Italian bicycle component manufacturer. In the 70s and 80s, Ofmega components were distributed in North America under the "Avocet" brand.

Great thread, great information.
I'm slowly acquiring an Ofmega group. Then I'll find me a frame.....
