Yeah, I tried riding the left crank arm after it cracked. No matter how tight I put the nut on, it would fall off. So now on the left side I'm using an old sugino crank. The drive-side however, I am still riding.

Have you contacted the manufacturer yet? Honestly, that is the worst failure I've ever seen. I'd bet beau coups bucks their engineering people want to see that crank. I'd bet their lawyers want to see it, too.

Yes, I'm sending them a letter tomorrow via USPS. I guess Shimano doesn't take emails.

I honestly didn't think this was very unusual.

oh, btw will 172.5 make a noticable difference from 170?
