early Cinelli SC (it's investment cast) BB shell, and looks like 70mm so most likely Italian (but you can confirm that) however, those "shamrocks" or whatever you'd like to call them aren't distinctive of any builder I'm aware of. In fact a renowned builder (maybe it was Dave Moulton?) pointed out that it was one of the easiest piercings to do with a simple drill bit, so dozens of builders used it as their "signature"...so that nobody can claim it at this point. Other features will help ID the frame: seat cluster, lugs, dropouts, forkcrown, etc. Is that an OMAS big sliding BB unit?

while I agree with unworthy1 about how easy that cutout is, I'm guessing that is a pretty unique setup on a bb due to the number of times it is repeated. I like the way the builder incorporated the existing slot in the dt. The shell itself tells you nothing, I have built at least 3 frames with that shell, anyone with $20 could have bought one in 1980.

Someone liked pantographing. While its not all that well executed (excellent pantographing should have nearly perfect dimensions - the drillings on the crown are obviously a tad sloppy), I certainly like it.
Looks as if someone wished to show off the drillium look - and succeeded quite well in doing so.

yeah the fact of it being repeated so much makes it unique, or at least a bit less generic, but I'm still in the dark about a specific builder, though I'd venture it was someone with a smallish output...any serial numbers anywhere? Also can't tell from that angle if those are Prugnat lugs or not, but again, the BB shell width would be nice to know: 70 or 68mm wide?

Well someone certainly cared about that one with all the matching paint accents on the components. I doubt the builder is Idable. Looks super custom one off type of job.

This bike was offered on German ebay recently and was described as a Cinelli. My guess is a home made one-off. Not good enough to be from an experienced builder and too intricate to come from somebody doing it to earn money.

Who made them? I made a frame for someone who had it fully chromed. I never liked the idea, and I don't think I ever saw it chromed. I'd certainly think about having some stays chromed if it was affordable. I have a frame in process now that I'd like to paint, but $ and low temperatures are getting in my way.
