Newbie with Colnago Olympic Master Question
Hello,
Love the forum - long time lurker, first time poster.
I've been lucky enough to acquire a Colnago Olympic Master frame, from c. 1996 or 1997. I've wanted a Colnago ever since I saw Jean Paul Van Poppel win the green jersey on one in the 1987 Tour de France. I never did find a Superconfex team edition, but hopefully I've done ok with my purchase.
I've read a lot about how Colnago had to withdraw the "Olympic" name as the I.O.C. took exception to them using it. So my question is, are the frames quite rare as a consequence? I don't know much at all concerning the history of this particular edition, and I'd be very grateful if anyone had any further information as to the Olympic Master's status or general standing within the Colnago canon.

I can assure you, I do own it. I purchased it from e-bay a couple of months ago, and it's currently in getting a pair of forks made for it. It wasn't particularly cheap, so I'm just keen to make sure I didn't buy a pup. Hopefully the pics work:

I've got a local framebuilder forging me some forks as we speak. It's taking ages, a raked fork, the chroming processes and what not, but what do I know.
I'd originally intended to fit the original Prescia forks, but just couldn't get hold of a pair; but, I did so want to ride the bike as quickly as possible, so an alternative source was fair game.
The next dilemma is the groupset to fit. I love the Campag Record sets of the late 80's, but perhaps a more modern fitting is appropriate. Still, Delta calipers would look lovely, if only I could afford a good pair.
