Garbage Bike.

My co-worker told me that he was going to throw away this bike. He's taller than I am but he said he had it when he was much younger. Sight unseen, I asked him to bring it to me rather than put it in the dumpster. He went home and brought it back to me within half hour.

1977 Centurion Lemans.

I took it in but I knew it wouldn't fit me. I believe it's 21 inches.

Since it was too big for me I handed it off to another BF member. He took the time to strip it down and give it love.

For something that was supposed to die in the clutches of metal jaws and frame crushing strength, I bet this bike is now worth a little something, huh?

Why did he change the fork, I didn't even notice that the first time until I read PDXaero's comment.

What became of the extra parts?

Paint cleaned up very nice. I agree too, I think the original fork would add to its character.

Not sure why he changed the fork, The frame had a considerable amount of rust. I don't know what he did with the old parts. As for the paint, I think his wife mixed some touch up. The decal on the chainstay looks like the original sticker because of the part of it that got messed up. There no longer borders along the lugs.

Way to go Siu Blue. I'm not into the fixie/single speed thing, but others are. Saving a former stem shifter bike from the grave is a worthy project.

Maybe the fork was stripped of paint? How about some drive side pics. Did he change the crankset?

It looks really good and I actually like the chrome paint though. Looks like he could use one more link in the chain though

I in the "shoulda kept the original fork" camp. I always hated the way those generic forks look. But it's a nice save. Nothing worse than the thought that a nice bike is going to the dump.

That's the second best thing that could have happened to it (since Robbie didn't end up with it).

The chrome fork is not generic. It came off of a Peugeot.
