It's a little hard to read the four numbers on your head badge, but they tell us something. If the last number is an "8" I'd vote for it being a 1978. It could also be a 1988, but the "Schwinn Quality" round decal on the downtube is more consistent with a late '70s bike.
Post the serial number which is under the head badge.

That four digit stamping in the headbadge is the assembly date. It's a bit fuzzy for my bifocals to make out. The first three digits are the ordinal day of the year, the last digit is the last digit of the year. For example '3128' would be the 312th day of 1978 or 1988. You would have to determine the year model from the frame serial number (month/year of frame build) and frame style, components (date codes on some of these), colors, decal styles, etc.

BTW, if it is a '78, the serial number will begin with a letter "A-M" followed by a "P" then several numbers.

Could be a Sting-Ray BX?

You guys are good! Thanks for the help. I will have to go home and get those numbers. I did see one near the top of the frame when I was cleaning it up a bit. That stingray BX looks spot on, but of course I am not an expert. I will post a followup. Thanks again.

If it is a stringray bx, what do you think would be a fair price? There is a bit of rust on it in several places(goosneck too), but it's on the surface, not structurally compromising the frames overall strength. Cranks need a repacking, but turns smoothly. Has seat post clamp. Missing white pedal. Thanks.

Got the numbers.
The number on the badge says 3188. So thanks to our helpful watchers that tells me it was made the 318 day of 1978. The one poster said they had stopped making in Chicago by 1988, so it has to be a '78. The frame # is KP558658. From another helpful member told me this means it was made in '78 also. Thanks to all, you guys are awesome. Anyone with other helpful info? Feel free to share. Thanks.
