Stronglight??
Is There any market for the Stronglight stuff? My dad is sending me a few dodads this week and had mentioned he dug up a stronglight crank set that was complete but had pitted races, said maybe I could barter with it. I used ebay as a quick reference and it doesnt' look like anyone is selling, indicating that no-one is interested in buying.
Sorry to be so direct and ask such a newbie sort of question - this stuff is older than I am (though not by a lot)

Some of the stronglight cranksets go for big bucks. when you say the races are pitted I'm
guessing you mean on the bottom bracket, that is replaceable.
btw I got significant hits when I went to ebay and entered stronglight in the search.

Ebay lately seems to be catering primarily to more of a mass market. The real customers for this sort of stuff are here in BF C&V, RoadBikeReview Retro forum, and Classic Rendezvous. I find the vintage section of Ebay cycling to be harder and harder to search effectively, with every "improvement" in the search functions.
If it's not on Ebay, that doesn't mean someone doesn't need it.

I've got a Peugeot with Stronglight 103's and a Gitane with Stronglight 104's and they're both very solid reliable cranksets. I like the look of the 104 a little more. I also do searches for Stronglight stuff frequently on Ebay and find the vintage items have a following.

I may have a need for the bottom bracket. Be sure to post pics and specs.

Thanks for the info guys... we'll see what he wants to do with it. He's also sending me a campy high flange ft. hub to use for the front of my M2, so that should be neat.

well, no bottom bracket - maybe he decided to keep it. However, he did send me not one, but two sets of cranks. (and the hub which was the original purpose of the parcel)

yeah, the hub is for a wheel I need to build for my m2... currently using my "race" wheel as a spare which is a take-off zipp tubular on a wheel smith built wheel w/ dura ace hub from the late 80s with about 500 miles on it- also from my dad

Stronglight crankset of my 1975 Monark. Very beautiful but can be weak (I dont like the bolt!).

These are the old style (pre-1982) arms, so keep in mind that these cranks will require the unique 23.35 x 1.0mm Stronglight extractor and dust caps. Other than that, they're great cranks. A little Simichrome and a buffing wheel will get you a mirror finish in just a few minutes.

The bolt through the crankarm has been known to wear out (not the steel!). Shouldnt be a problem if the bike/riding is re-creational. Its just one of those hazards one dont want to experience during a long randonneur. In other words, dont want to deal with it.
