Fuso Frame back from the painter

Bilenky Cycle Works just sent me my 1987 Fuso. It had some rust problems and needed a new downtube as well as new cable guides. I chose to have it painted red and black, similar to a color scheme Dave Moulton had used on other Fusos.

Before

After

sorry for the bad After photos. I was using the older camera and it tends to oversaturate. Its memory card is also notorious for eating pictures; I had several more on there but it wouldn't give them up.

I still need a couple of small decals and the Dave Moulton Signature decal and of course, the Columbus tubing decal. I'll also fill in the Fuso pantograph with some black paint.

I sent them pics of this bike to give them an idea of what I wanted:

I plan to use newer Campy components, probably the pile of 9-speed stuff I've got and also downtube shifters. Black cables and bartape.

BEAUTIFUL. They did an amazing job.
One day, I'm gonna send my DX-6000 off to get repainted, probably in inverted colors (red/black), and also have the cable guides redone, as they're rusty and don't seem to want to get better.

Even high end bikes can come with crappy paint jobs. A third party painter can provide a paint superior to the factory coat - which will last a long time. You do get what you pay for.

Beautiful choice and execution of the colors/painting. But the bar tape is a crime against nature.

I don't know if it's the setting or the lighting, but that's the most drop-dead gorgeous combination of red and black I've ever seen.

The bike is really sweet!...but could come to my house and make my kitchen look like that?
