Hello! Took the Paramount apart, cleaned, waxed, and greased her up. I have mostly DA 7400 or 7401 (including the BB that was already in it!), but am both the front hub/skewer and FD are out of the group. I left the Suntour FD because of two reasons: could not get the band off and I do not have a 7400 FD. Two pretty good reasons I think.

While starting to clean the hubs, I realized that the rear axle was broken! That should be on its way, just a hassle.

The stem is super long, so that might change in the future.

Did not touch up the paint because it will be my fair weather ride and will some day be repainted. Who knows when though.

And yes, I realize I am missing the chain. I am leaving it off to resist riding it with a broken axle!

Enjoy the pictures!

Just thought I'd point this out - note the Porta Catena-compatible Campagnolo dropout.

Ahh, interesting. Had no idea what those holes were for.

Looks great and a fine way to build it up until you do restore it to something close to the original paint. Any idea what the original color was? Mine is a metallic black and Yogurt's is a metallic sky blue. These are the only colors I've seen with the rainbow decals.

I'm also glad to hear you couldn't get your Suntour FD mounting band off! I tried and tried again on the one hanging out over the BB shell on my Paramount! No way this thing is budging! Some day I'll drill it out.

Can't wait to hear how you like the ride.

Nice build! The yellow rear derailleur cable housing matches the rim labels. :thumb:

PB -- I've seen a couple of '83 models with rainbow decals in blue.

Ah, very cool. Were the parts used or generally obscure? I imagine they were brushed off as extra weight?

Wonderful, I originally had my 86 built up very similarly.

Bob

It seems hard to believe that a Paramount only came in two colors in a specific year.
