LOOKING for the elusive Bianchi X-4!!!

Hiya gang,

Hope it's not a problem that I post this here, but I'm knocking on all doors to try and scare up ANY type of lead I can get that will help me find the elusive Bianchi X-4 frame!

I believe it's a 1987-88 model, and the one I'm interested in is the Celeste one with the black chromed forks and seat/chain stays, and the engraved/pantographed logos etc.

From what I understand it was also called the Specialissima X-4 and I've heard it called a Reparto Corse frame as well. Another name was an Argentine model I believe.

So far I know that there's one somewhere in England, Japan, and two of the in the States.. but digging through Craigslist and eBay has proved futile. I know these frames don't come up too often, but if ANYbody has ANY leads.. please let me know!

Cheers,

vg

You are better off buying a complete bike as these were outfitted with lots of panto bits that would be really tough to find on their own. These were really pimped out complete bikes. To restore one from just a frame would be more exspensive than finding a nice complete bike (which will not be cheap).

I'd say it's actually a great time to buy a bike like this if you are seriously willing to spend the money that one of these is worth.

Lots of collectors are feeling the economic pinch right now and are willing to sell rare stuff like this for the right price.

If you PM me I can think of two people that would be worth contacting about finding a Specialissima X4.

The X-4 was a Reparto Corse frame - that is the Bianchi factory works shop.

dannyg1, thanks for the link!

that's actually the thread that started my whole hunt hahaha.. i have already managed to track that frame to the chicago area, but then the trail goes cold.

just heard back from someone that has two X-4's in their collection, however, they are both the older style with just the Celeste and chrome and no black. agh. so close, yet so far!

I'm going to guess that there weren't that many X-4's made in any year. And the majority of the ones that are out there are either in the hands of collectors or still with their original owners.

You may get lucky though. Searching is half the fun.

I agree!

It's always Murphy's Law for me though.. when I see and have a chance at the frame/bike.. I do not have the funds to acquire it.

When the funds are available, the frame/bike is obviously not anymore.. such is my life!

Still looking..

update: in addition to the collector with two of the older X-4's (60cm ctc), i found another guy who has the black and celeste X-4 (but size is a little too big for me 56.5cm ctc).. restored, so not 100% original. if anyone is interested, let me know and i'll patch you through to them.

cheers

ooops sorry, i hadn't been checking the forums lately... saw that one on eBay, but it's not quite the right model (had the right colours and such, but the top eyes were wrong, and i believe the seat stays and forks are supposed to be bladed).

it was also much too big!

thanks for thinking of me though, guys! much appreciated
