Bikes: Seriously downsizing.

Passed on a Falcon yesterday....

....56cm San Remo with a Brooks saddle. Wheels had been swapped out to bolt-on steel rims, but came with an extra pair of Mavic red label tubular rims laced to Campy low-flange hubs. Stamped rear drop-outs and clamp-on RD were the deal killers, and I let it pass at $155.
The 12-step program is STILL working.

The first step is to admit you have a problem...

You're a strong man, Top. Did it have a cottered steel crankset? Just wondering about the vintage.

Early '70s SR (the Japanese one, NOT Super Record!) cranks, Very early Sun Tour GT RD, some sort of Campy FD and shifters, Weinmann centerpulls.
I'm out on the Cape and it's in the next town over. If your interested I can pick it up for you.

Bikes: '64 Bianchi CDM, '62ish Altenburger Cinelli Mod B, '63-64 Cinelli SC, 69 Rene Herse Competition, '71 Gitane SC, '73 Cinelli SC, '73-74 Colnago Super,, '73-74 Cinelli SC, '78ish counterfeit Confente, '82 Medici Gran Turismo, '67ish Mondia Speciale

Should've offered him $25 for the wheels! I understand what you're trying to do though. About a month ago, I passed on a basket case Atala Record Professional (trashed rims, some rust on chrome, toast Unicanitor saddle, one broke Universal lever) at $175. The guy knew nothing about bikes and had the worst ads that I've ever seen on CL (though I even emailed him with the full component listings from an old Atala advert).

Any, he relisted it for $150. I offered him $125, and he said yes. The frame's way too small (47.5), so I think that I'll shoot to recoup my costs by selling the frameset, and then keeping all the Campy NR goodies for myself!

Good for you for being strong. Listen to what the little voice in your head tells you. (unless there are more than one)!

Thanks for the enabling, but it's a bit small for me. I was mostly curious if it was from the era of my early 60s Falcon San Remo, but it sounds like a much later model assuming those parts were on there originally.
