Is there front tire overlap with the downtube? The bike really is in good shape. http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...9&d=1434697731 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=459229 |
That's just his custom racing geometry modification!

Overvalued Trek hybrids are nothing new on Minneapolis CL. Still, I briefly considered emailing this guy with a bikepedia link to 1997 Trek 720s since their MSRP was $370. Then I kept reading their long-winded ad and thought about how I wanted to have nothing to do with this person.
[h=2]Trek 720 - Twins - $800 (Hiawatha golf, So. Mpls. MN)[/h]Trek 720 - Twins http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=459250 Twin Trek 720 Multitrack* hybrids. Seldom used and leniently ridden, they're in 'Beauty Pageant' condition. Used mainly as hanging art in the ol' Guggenheim garage. Offered as a pair for now. Like Jeopardy... "Twins for eight hundred, please". Mechanically solid, cosmetically gorgeous, and they are clean. No muck, no yuck, no grime, nor rust. Clean as...Hilary Clinton's gov't. email. His & Hers, or His & His, or Hers & Hers. Let's say 'gender neutral'. Brings to mind words to live by; "Live your life so that when you come to die even the undertaker will be sad". ..Mark Twain. Need I say more? But I will.... These bicycles were not made in China, nor were they made in Taiwan, Japan, or Fair Trade...wherever! They were "hand built in Wisconsin, USA". Take pride in that...every time you pass a foreign labor import. Take pride in that...when your buddy brags about their new Chinese bike. Take pride in that...as you stand to sing The Star Spangled Banner at the ball game. Take pride in that...as you sing along with The Boss as you pedal... "Born in the USA, I was....". Specs: Frames: Both 17" Cromoly steel main frame & fork. Lean, nimble, lightweight, yet strong-like-bull. Compare to Surly, Salsa, and All-City, but $1,000.00 LESS!...each! Yeah, go figure. Thh! You may have been born at night but it wasn't last night. Gears/speeds: 21 ( 3 x 7). Grip shift. Tires: 700 x 38 size. Fast rolling and very good rubber. Color: Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain. Original paint; other than one seat, original everything. Suitable for giving. * Please include your phone number in response -sorry, no number, no reply. Offered as a pair for now and price is firm. SASA. - Delivery possible. - Not stolen bikes. |

Ugh- there seems to be a new flipper in the area that takes sub $100 vintage mtbs that have been languishing on CL and gives them a "sweet fixie" style makeover. They keep the gears, but make everything as garish as possible. Then they turn the risers up-side down and charge over $300.
[h=2]SICK Vintage Custom Peugeot Montreal Express Reconditioned<========€€€ - $320 (NE Minneapolis)[/h]SICK Vintage Custom Peugeot Montreal Express Reconditioned<========??? http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=459370 Hello, you're looking at a completely reconditioned vintage Peugeot Montreal Express 18 speed mountain bike/commuter that I customized a bit. The bike rides, shifts, and brakes perfectly and is an awesome all around bike. The bike has NEW pedals, tires, cables and housing, grips, and shifters, as well as upgraded seat and post. It's been totally cleaned and tuned and is a hell of a deal for 320 beans! I will measure the bike and post the size, but it's ideal for someone around 5'6. [h=2]SUPER FRESH Custom Mint Miyata 20.5in 21 Speed MTB/Commuter MUST SEE! - $340 (NE Minnapolis)[/h]SUPER FRESH Custom Mint Miyata 20.5in 21 Speed MTB/Commuter MUST SEE! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=459371http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=459372 Hello, youre looking at an AWESOME Custom Mint Miyata Shredder 20.5in 21 Speed MTB/Commuter. I got this bike in disrepair and TOTALLY overhauled it. I broke it down, cleaned it, changed out parts as needed, customized it a bit with some drop style bars that are incredibly comfortable and functional, lubed it, put new cables and housing in, adjusted the brakes and gears, took it for a ride, and dialed it as tight as the anus of a field mouse. The bike is equipped with SEALED Exage wheels, as well as a brand new sealed bottom bracket, so it rides like butter, and is impervious to water and dirt so it makes for an excellent all season bike. The tires are wide but made for the road so they're fast but versatile, and the way it's dialed it's as fast as most ten speeds road bikes, but much, much more versatile and stable. It's an extremely tight, functional bike, and is absolutely beautiful besides. I've built hundreds of bikes, and I can honestly say this is my favorite, it's hard to let to, but they always are. The following parts are NEW or UPGRADED: NEW Stolen Brand Thermalite Pedals NEW Sealed Bottom Bracket NEW Cables and Housing NEW Sun Whitewall Tires UPGRADED Shimano Shifter/Lever Combo UPGRADED Bontrager Saddle UPGRADED Alloy Drop Bars UPGRADED WTB Grips UPGRADED Schwinn Bike Rack |

I agree. And it reminds me that I have never seen anyone try, but I can't imagine getting on and off a bike with a child seat... unless it was a step through.

The head tube angle looks too steep. And the fork angle isn't steep enough. Where are you finding all these bikes that use parked cars for brakes? |

It is probably worth $200 in parts.... plus a lot of work, assuing the fork is ok. Offer the guy $50 to $100 and see if he'll bite. Perhaps I should set up a shop specializing in bicycle front end damage repair. But with the parts, labor, painting, decals, stencils, etc... one would have several hundred invested in the bike easily. And still end up with a repaired, repainted bike. |

Clockwise velodrome racer? Sadly, all velodromes are counter clockwise.
