Sadly selling like this is so much like the old Bait-and-Switch. If the person will text message pictures, which never are very good, why not just include them in the CL ad. The wonderful world of CL :lol: BTW, since I left a voice mail I never received any pictures of the real bikes.

All it needs is a new frame and a drivetrain :D

Sometimes sellers are just too lazy to upload their own photos. All Schwinns look the same, right?

Perhaps it is a stolen bike (bikes). Much safer to upload someone else's photos.

The ad says "This bike demands a lot of attention at rides." Does this mean that it is very difficult to ride, or maybe needs frequent mechanical help, or (probably) the tires need pumped every few miles.

I prefer bikes that don't demand a lot of attention.

There's much about this bike I don't understand from the ad copy. Also looks like they raided the parts bin. It has an Shimano Ultegra FD, Sram Apex RD and Campagnolo brakes.

I have a coworker who rides in every day, has a 105-level Giant aluminum road bike, accumulates thousands of miles a year. But he's got this thing about hating bike kit of any kind. He rides in running shorts etc. He bought the bike three years ago and just walked out of the store with the test-ride pedals still screwed into the bike and left them there for 11,000 miles until the bearings blew out. He replaced them with some decent MTB platforms.

"Commands," not "demands," is probably the word he wanted. It works in the context.

Does it make it stronger if the holes are not drilled in a straight line?

There was a thread a few years ago with a few beautiful road bikes that had holes drilled through the tubes, but they had reinforcements running across the tube too.

It would be interesting to see if there are before and after photos. But, often bikes get repainted after the original paint gets so bad that it detracts from the bike as a whole.

Whether powder is better or worse than paint could be a long argument.

The color choice probably isn't original. It is done with class, but probably not my choice of color schemes.

The bike could use a $20 investment in new decals.

Is it even a Bianchi? I see no evidence of embossing on either the fork crown or seat stay...

This frame has been up on E-Bay for a while.

So, it has:

• top-tube/down-tube front-end damage (apparently repaired, but still visible damage).
• Dented seat stay (straightened, but visible damage).
• Bulged steer tube
• Really bad paint

And the seller seems to think it should be worth $300 +$100 shipping.

It does look like a pretty cool frame from the early to mid 70's. But....

Full Disclosure, I did send a PM to the seller without response, then submitted an offer that was quickly declined without comment.

I'll see if it stays up for a few months, then send another offer. Maybe I'll feel more generous.
