Recently I was (unsuccessfully) negotiating over a golem bike-boom Carraro and quickly found that the bike was given to the seller's son by their next-door neighbour. The neighbour was now retired; he had arrived from Italy in the early 50's with essentially nothing, built a business, grew children and tomatoes. It was his bicycle and he was brought over to help discuss matters.

The seller didn't know bikes and I was gently explaining that that name didn't mean much if it also had Valentino on it. The previous owner was quiet, leaning on his cane and smiling a bit. I'd had years of Latin and spent some time where Italian was lingua franca, but when I said "Campagnolo" he burst out with "Cam-pan-YO-lo!"

So I've been taught.

Price isn't out of line, at least not by very much. Old school BMX stuff pricing is insane. I'd suggest you look at sold items on ebay (and some current listings that have bids) and be prepared for some sticker shock.
I think that its wacky because the price borders on the ridiculous. Its like charging $10 for a gum drop. I'm also willing to concede that I've never been a BMXer myself, so its hard to let loose the ooo's and aaah's over this particular item.

I get it. He paid $320 for it and couldn't bring himself to install it on his $250 GT. But really, it's a consumable. I do horse trading with a couple of bmx traders. They will drop everything and do mileage for a few rare parts. Bought an 80's Free Agent that they keep hammering me about. It's been through two grandkids and may get to a third. Awesome $50 bike, lol.

I like BMX, and I would never pay that for a consumable. Guess the difference is, they’re not gonna actually RIDE it once they build it up with these, so the grips will not get worn.

I know some of those folks spend thousands on frames, but although I get the nostalgia, I could never do it since modern BMX stuff is WORLDS better, stronger, smoother to actually ride (vs. rattly old-school stuff or heavy mod-school stuff).

Wow, Talk about crazy pricing... It's looking like $4.500 for that Masi isn't bad after all.
Sit down before viewing the picture.

The price is listed at the bottom

Complete with dented top tube from the cable hanger coming around too far.
You would also think that for $500 they would fix the bar tape.

swanson's? what, you think i am rich or something? i go for generic or store brand! swanson's is a bit too high society for me.

I was thinking of "CV".

I swear this keeps getting more expensive. They have the nerve to list MSRP in 1991 and charge more.

Trek 7900 Multi-Track - 23" alum. frame - $987 (Mpls. MN)

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/h...245495951.html

1991 aluminum Trek Multi-Track 7900. All original. Rarely ridden. Stored in bedroom.
'Like New' condition and that's no exaggeration or hyperbole. Gift worthy, suitable for giving.
Made in the USA - M$RP: $859+ ( that's $1627+ in today's dollars).
23" aluminum frame. - Top tube 22¾" - Seat tube 23" - Stand over 34". - Cro-Moly fork.
21 gears/speeds (rapid fire Deore DX thumb shift). 700 x 40 tires. True wheels, each with 32 stainless steel spokes.

Not needy at all, it's ready to roll. However, it should be in a museum; it's unique, one of a kind. Like fine art, it will only increase in value.

Price is fair & firm, $987. Not for everyone; priced to appreciate and continue to care for. Or I suppose you could adopt a highway.

This is truly annoying. I refuse to believe this person is serious- this is an epic trolling job, right? A sort of niche performance-art? I really hope so.
