Mystery Bianchi Road Bike

My room mate just inherited this bicycle from his step dad, and we're trying to figure out its details. We haven't been able to locate the serial # (Is it underneath the cable routing clip on the bottom bracket?). We figure its an Italian made Bianchi, but can't figure out the year or model.

The most I know about it is it has a Shimano 600 Drive Train, Shimano Exage brakes that need some work. (Don't seem to retract properly, are they rebuildable?). Other than that anything we could learn would be great.

Thanks guys

Bikes: 62 Falcon, 58 Raleigh Lenton Gran Prix, 74 Raleigh Pro, 75 Raleigh Int, 75 Raleigh Comp, 76 Colnago Super, 75 Crescent, 80 Peugeot PX10, plus others too numerous to mention!

The Columbus tubing is a clue it is indeed an Italian model, but it would be good to find a "Made in ,,,," sticker on it somewhere!

There is a "Made In Italy" sticker right above the bottom bracket on the seat tube.

Gummy/corroded cables could be keeping the brakes from retracting...

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.

The handlebar has been rotated too far up. It's putting a strain on the brake cable housing. That's probably why the calipers are not operating correctly.
The Exage brakes are lower end Shimano. Not comparable to the rest of the 600 components IMHO.

The front derailleur and the shifters also look like they're Exage instead of Shimano 600.

Columbus AELLE tubing - Set for amateur and touring cyclists, built of cold-drawn, microalloyed-steel thin-wall tubing which makes it especially lightweight.

I'm going to guess and say the crank and rear derailleur were swapped out somewhere along the way. The model name is is on the top tube in the first pic.

Check components date codes to help determine the year. I'd use the brake caliper codes as a reference.

www.vintage-trek.com for date code help.

Thanks for the link.

I figured that sticker to be the model name, however if you look closely most of it is worn off. Random googling of the letters we can make out results in nothing.

Bikes: 85 bianchi stelvio, 80s Rossi, 80s Fiori modena

Looks like a REKORD based on the lettering on the top tube. Some people spell it record but if im not mistaken its Rekord. Do a google search bianchi rekord and youll lots of hits. You got decent ride there with a marqui name brand with a little effort and maintenance, it will give you many miles of enjoyment. What kind of Rims do you have on it? Take care Sky.

Hi if I can add my two cents. I would suspect this to be about a 95-97. I would not be suprises if some one added the 600 stuff for some reason. I do not recall a 600 equipped bike on a Alle frame. is this really a bianchi frame? that decal on the top tube does not match the other decals. the style on the top tube decal is similar to ones from 88 thru 90 but the downtube and other decals look like a newer style. just my humble opinion

I couldnt find a Rekord listed from '93-'97. It seems the OP found what he was loking for from us becasue he didnt update us on the component date codes. Oh, well.

Bikes: yes

Here is a similar Record 905, but with Shimano 105; some similarities and differences in decals. Also CroMor rather than Aelle tubing:

There seems to be a lot of conflicting data here. Regardless, tre tubi Aelle makes it quite low on the ladder. My guess is 1988-1992.

Hello yes the frame masteriel seems a bit out of date with the mixed bag of componets. I do not recall seeing the brake levers until after I was out of the business in 95-96 but tre tubi Alle was used earlier and 'out of fashion' by then. I think was a atleast partly resprayed and just cobbled together to sell.
