Yesterday was a great day.

A very nice man, was generous enough to bestow upon me a few lovely things.

It all started when I commented on his beautiful Pogliaghi...

I was riding my Benotto...so of course, the conversation made its way into the wonders of riding Italian steel.

Anyways a few beers later and were in the garage lookin at custom built surfboards, that he had built over the years. Turn out we know the same people, small world.

Anyways, this was sitting on a trainer in the garage covered in dust, when I asked about it all he said was:

"Oh, that, ****... You can take it... You want the trainer too?"

Hell yeah!

He also let me snag a Schwinn Prelude frameset with Columbus Tenax tubes that will be the perfect size for the lady-friend.

I admit, I didnt even try to figure out what type of Peugeot this was yet... But I know how much you all love doing this.














I couldnt find any decal / remnants of a brand of tubes
Cinelli bars/stem
Ofmega crankset
Rigada 700 alloy rims
Sachs-Huret Rival
The brakes are Royal Compe 2's... never seen these

If this thing was lugged and a bit larger, I'd be all over it. I dont know what I'll be doing with it at the moment...

Anyone got the lowdown, please, enlighten me.

Rainbow stickers are from 84-88. Looks like it might be a lightly modified 85 PH501. Just a hunch.

I believe it an 88 from the paint and components. The Aero brakes showed up about then. I think it is probably bone stock.

I don't want to start up a new thread but did Peugeot ever make department-store type of bikes? I ask because this one is described by the seller as having been bought at a department store and it does look pretty new, does anyone have any ideas on what type of bike this is? The little Canada flag on the down-tube is new to me....

Peugeot Sport, I believe? aka UO-6. Carbolite 103 frame. Although it looks newer than the other Sports I've seen pictures of.

Peugeot set up a Canadian manufacturing operation.
BTW, I'll take those Royal Compe brakes if you want to ditch them!

Yeah, the brake levers are aero type and the rims almost look aero too so I am guessing late '80s but it is in pretty darned good shape. I don't have the bike in my mitts yet but will get it tomorrow.

Funny, I just sold a UO-6 today and I was impressed at how light it was....and it was at least 30 years old.

peugeot were Québec made for the canadian market in the 80/90's

in fact pretty much all the peugeot here are quebec made ones, the french made older bikes are a rarity! (mind you i am from the suburb of montreal , Québec, (canada) )

I have a surplus of French made Peugeots here...

1978: Peugeot of France 'Cycles Peugeot' enters into a licensing agreement with Procycle of Canada. Procycle begins production of Peugeot branded bicycles for the Canadian market

Late 80's: Procycle of Canada produces bikes for Cycles Peugeot for the U.S. market.

1990-ish: Peugeot of France withdraws from the U.S. market and sells Licensing rights for a period of 10 years to Procycle of Canada. Procycle now produces and distributes all Peugeot bicycles for the North American market.

1995-ish: Procycles enters into an agreement with a well known upscale department store for the sale Peugeot branded bicycles.

NO, no and no. The bike in question is a mid 90' model with no association, other than name, to the previously made 'Sport' model of the late 70's early 80's.

OK, that makes more sense. I thought it looked awfully new to be one of the 80's Sports but wasn't aware there was a 90's model. How do you keep 'em all straight?

In Canada it may have been. In the U.S. it was a realtively big, more upscale store. something a step above WalMart and Kmart but not like Macy's.
