Lately there has been some interest in the forum about Viscount and Lambert bikes.If you have one post the pics so other members could check them out and possibly help in restoring one in need of help.Heres one of em.You have to love that chainring.

Great idea for a thread. I'm restoring a Viscount Aerospace Pro so this info can be quite helpful. Here is my bike in "before" and "during" status. Now that I am back to work, hopefully there will be an "after" status picture soon, too.

I just rebuilt the BB on my Aerospace GP. Going to be a week or two the way the weather is going, until I get started. At least I have a complete bike to work with. The decals are kind of shot. I also have a chrome fork to install. A very big BTW......An automotive bearing numbered 103-CC is an exact match for the original, and usually comes with a rubber seal instead of metal like some. It feels tight and smooth, smoother than some cartridge BB's I've installed. Can't wait for the first ride!,,,,BD

Lloyds of England. No pics, but they have the set last I checked. Cheap too. I think I will repaint mine, pearl white instead of solid. Would be a nice eye popping change.,,,,BD

The death fork has been discussed to....well, death.

I've ben looking for one of those cranksets (cheap) but everyone I see up on ebay seems to just sit with a high opening bid

I just acquired what I believe is an Aerospace Pro from my father who has had it since he bought it new in 1977. It's been sitting in his garage for 12 years or better, so it will need some work to be road worthy.





I can't tell if this is the death fork or not...




The left side dropout was re-brazed on after my father had a major accident.




Anyone have a good recommendation for where to get replacement grips and hoods?

Pretty sure my "mystery bike" is a Lambert ... (frame anyway).

The bike was converted to a three-speed. It is sporting a 1954 S/A AW three-speed hub, FB steel front hub with Reynolds alloy wingnuts, narrow alloy rims with a raised center section, '40s Stronglight "Touriste" alloy cranks (yay! -- single chainring though), '40s Lyotard 460D (?) pedals, Ambrosio stem, unknown as-of-yet shorty upright alloy bars, BMX grips, Weinmann tourist levers, MAFAC Dural Forge calipers. Including a huge Messinger padded sprung saddle, a steel rear rack and a speedometer, the bike weighs less than the early-70s Nishiki Professional (with Bullseye hubs) that I also bought at the same bike swap. Both bikes were $30 each.

Anyone have any good tips on how to get years of caked-on grease off of derailleurs and chainrings? I was thinking about using some PB Blaster, but I'm afraid this might mess up the crank bearing.

You might try WD40. It's a pretty good solvent.

Take them off, and soak overnight in a tub of hot water/simle green solution. All the crap will soften up and fall off, and what's left can be easily removed with brisk rinsing and a nylon scrub brush.

Today I stopped in to my LBS for some parts and advice about my Viscount project. This LBS was a Lambert and Viscount dealer back when they were in business. I discovered this scale hanging in the service area.
