how do you compress a pic?

the pics i try to post are all to large. Any clues on how to compress them??

It depends on the image format and what kind of compression has already been performed on it. Some are already compressed and some can be further compressed. Remember that compression often involves loss in quality. You might also want to try cropping or resizing the picture. This will decrease its byte-size too.
