what are these centerpulls?

Found these at a co-operative. They were $5. They felt better than any of the other centerpulls in the bin, including the mafac racers and some shimanos.

They have a huge reach, around 70mm-100mm, so I'm thinking they're BMX? They are also stamped with the JIS logo, and have "Japan" on the inside. The straddle cables have an "A" on them. Or maybe it's a really weird "D."

I'm thinking if I ever need to convert to 650b, these will make it possible on whatever frame I choose.

Thanks for the help!

I've seen them before on lower-end bikes. They're all steel, correct?

I had a set of side pulls with similar markings on an old clunker I flipped a while back. I can't remember the brand of bike, but it was a heavy beast!

I always think of them as the generic version of Shimano Tourney centerpulls.

Bikes: IRO Mark V, Karate Monkey half fat, Trek 620 IGH, Cannondale 26/24 MTB, Amp Research B3, and more.

I think the steel ones flex WAY more than the aluminum ones. Flexing brake arms is a bad deal. I hate them.

They do seem to have an incredibly long reach!
