Gilberto, I think I'd love your wife too - and I've never met her!

A pleasant challenge to have, now you've cleared all the good bikes out of Europe!!! All the best mate.

Bikes: Raleigh Olympian, Trek 400, 500, 1500, 6700, Madone 6.9, Sekai 2400, Schwinn Passage, KOM, Super Letour, Nishiki Sport, Vision R45, Bike E, Volae Team

I have 18 bikes hanging from ceiling hooks in my garage. Luckily most are 54 cm frames or less and I am 5'9" (and my wife shorter), so I can just clear the handlebars. The additon of a helmet resuts in head strike!

Thanks guys for your help. I managed to fit 10 bikes on one 2X4 in the back shed. I'm going to build another rack today that will fit another 10 bikes but with some extra room for some wheelsets. Hopefully my design works out. Pics upon completion.

Here is the rack I dreamed up. I didn't want to drill any holes in the garage walls so I came up with this idea. I also incorporated a place to hang my extra wheel sets. I had to buy new hooks for the wheels as the ones pictured were a bit to big and it didn't allow them to hang freely. It took me about 2 hours to build it since I couldn't find my power tools yet. I spaced the hooks so that I could hang 8 bikes. Sorry for the crappy pics and the mess but it's still hectic here.

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

That looks like what I was hoping for when I started to build mine, but I miscalculated the height and the bikes ended up horizontal.

It came out better than I expected. BTW, I guess you haven't received them yet.. I sent you two pairs just so you know. Let me know when you get them. I wished I had went to the Cirque but things came up as usual.

The secret is to spread them all out? only half of my bicycles are shown here. lol

HAHAH. Me too. The ones with the tubing are: From nearest to far:
Gazelle Champion Mondial, Colnago Super, Godefroot Track bike. I don't see myself riding them much for now, hence the tubing.

That's the problem; I don't have anywhere to spread them. Hell, with this rack and the one in the back shed, I still need to figure out where to put the other 13. Looks like I will be making some hard decisions soon.

That was the initial thought, but given that we are in Gov't housing, it's highly doubtful that we'll get the ok for me to build it.

Gilberto,

I'm a lot closer than Kurt - plus unlike Kurt, your bikes are too large for me - they'll get ridden a lot less.

Wow, thats a really nice rack design. I can't tell is there a block of wood at the bottom where the front wheel touches?

I wanted to ask about this type of setup, is there any problems that can arise from hanging like this? Or is the wheel strong enough to hang (with the support of a wall)

John....I might take you on the offer if I can't figure something out soon.

There is no other piece of wood other than the one the hooks are attached too. The bottom tires rest against the wall. I place cardboard between the wall and the tires as not to dirty the wall, per the wife.

That set up is great. It's just the same as hanging them from racks like mine as long as the bottom tire makes contact with the wall.

If you have the "hook ups" like that then I'm down. I'll be awaiting my new orders.

That is a steal! I'm looking for one to put in the front of our house. Here is the Rack stuffed to capacity with Bikes and Wheels. I still have 7 boxes to unpack with bikes. I need to clean up the garage to see how much space I will be able to use. My wife's van must fit inside when all is done.
