I could not spend a week in Boston on business travel without making a quick side trip to West Newton to visit Sheldon Brown, Jon Harris, and the rest of the gang at Harris Cyclery. Fortunately, I went early in the week, and was able to catch Sheldon the day before he himself left on a trip. I picked up a slick Topeak multitool, tyre levers, and an under-saddle tool pouch, to replace the ones stolen from my Peugeot while it was parked at UCSD last month. I did not buy one, but I got a demonstration of the biggest LED blinke I have ever seen. Harris Cyclery reminded me of my own LBS at home -- an old building staffed by experts who really love what they do. (Jon told me that running Harris Cyclery with Sheldon as his second-in-command is alot more fun than teaching 7th grade math.)

I have never met Sheldon, but have talked with him on the phone. He is an extreme gentleman, and treated me with courtesy and respect!

What a contrast between Jobst Brandt and Sheldon Brown. Two extremely knowledgeable folks with, to me at least, absolutely opposite personality styles.

I 100% concur. Jobst occurs to me as a knowledgable curmudgeon who likes to
pontificate. Sheldon, well what is there to say about Sheldon that hasn't already
been said?

I could say the same about Denver Fox and RainmanP.

Although I greatly respect John Forester, I sometimes feel he would be more Effective if he took a page from Sheldon's book on common courtesy.

I encountered Sheldon the actor/singer before learning of his semi-legendary status in the world of bicycles. His great personality shines through every role he plays--even the curmudgeons!
