Legnano seat post size

Hi. I have a Legnano racing bike, circa late 60's, that I used to race as a teenager in New Zealand. We now live in the UK and recently bought an apartment in Italy. Last year I took my bike 'home' to Italy so that I can ride it when I'm over there on holiday - what a joy! In fact we pass the city of Legnano when we drive from Milan.

Here's the thing...

The bike is in Italy, I'm in the UK and I want to buy a new seat post before I go in the summer. However I don't know what size I should get?

Any ideas? So the question is: What is the diameter of a late 60's Legnano seat post?

Thanks in advance
Lloyd

What model is your Legnano? Do you know what type of tubing? I checked two of my Romas; a 1963 and a 1965, both Falck tubing and they take a 27.0 seatpost. However my 1969 Roma is a full Reynolds 531 frame and may take a different diameter post. I can take a look at it later today if necessary.

For the most part in the 60's, Roma's are 27.0 and Gran Premio's are 26.8. But there may be variations I do not know about.

From: Toronto/Montréal

Bikes: Eight homemade, three very dusty

I just got what I think is a Roma. I'm missing the seat binder bolt so can't say for sure but a 27.0 fits snugly.

Thanks all for your input - I think I'll go for the 27.0.
