I feel the same way. I'm 6'-2". If that Fuji mixte I posted up thread fit me, I would ride it in a heartbeat. It's a sweet lookin' bike.

The Gitane and the coffee colored SC were donations to a silent auction. the rest are still being ridden by my wife and daughters. Someday I'm going to have Mercian build me a 66cm mixte!

I’m just a hair under 6’ tall with about a 30“ inseam, and much to my surprise with a 191/2 inch seat post; when the Fuji had the drop bars on it; I was quite stretched out and (relatively) comfortable.
But, I wanted more of a semi-fast cruiser (due to back and hip issues) so I put some wide North Road type bars on it and a different stem and seat, so that I pretty much sit bolt upright on it now. I have plenty of height adjustment left on the seat, and leg room has never been an issue even when I had the stem from the drop bars on it with the North roads.
Some European companies are offering Mixte style frames in up to 57cm size, but other than that there is not much available in larger size Mixtes that I have found anyway.

Found on the Raleigh (NC!) CL. S/N starts with "80" so I assume it is from 1980. May or may not be, but certainly could be judging by the components. Bought it for my 17-yr old daughter. Basically only needed lots of TLC, cleaning, repacking the bearings, stripping the dirt from the drive chain, etc. I doubt the saddle is original and it came with new tires. It is is missing a pedal dust cover and it sure would be nice to find a replacement. Anyone know of a good source for small vintage parts?

wow, those handle grips are wild:D but seriously this is a very good mixte. sadly I myself am new to the restoration business so the only source i have found is ebay.

Yeah, the tape was too wild for my little one, so sadly it has gone down the history trail. In a funky kind of way I thought it was somewhat cool. The tape is now a light blue that almost matches the Raleigh decal. She is much happier now and therefore I am as well ...

This bike was only in fair condition, but is now in extremely good, if not great shape. I don't know who put the tape, saddle and tires on it but obviously somebody wanted to bring it back from the dead before I got it. The tires are so new they still have the flashing on them. They must have no mileage as far as I can tell.

We both ordered new helmets which should be here sometime later this week. Then it is off for our first ride together and I will be very pleased to introduce her to the joys of riding for pleasure. The best part is that in a year she will be in college and she can take her bike with her.

This is my newly acquired mixte, Marianne. She is a Motobecane Mirage c.1981, made in France.
We bought her from the original owner and she is in excellent condition. This is the "before" picture.
Marianne and I have plans for a nice spa and beauty treatment soon!

dbarnblatt, that is beautiful! The sage green is similar to the colour I want to use on mine. Did you paint it yourself? And what handlebars are those?

I am going to give the drop bars on mine a chance, after cutting off that awful stuff they are covered with and wrapping them in some nice French tape. But in the long run, I am thinking these Belleville bars from Velo Orange.

Here is my Miyata 210 mixte, cost 10 dollars and cleaned up like new.

It's a Brooks Champion Flyer S. Right now the bike has the original 70's brown suede Moto saddle. I found it after the fact. Not as comfy as the Brooks by a long shot.

My about-to-turn 13 year-old daughter has been bugging me about getting a taller bike. So I picked up this 1980 Lotus for $35. The paint was very rough and she is all about color, so I took her to the hardware store and let her pick out a can of krylon. Heres' the result.

If you go with the upright bars... Velo Orange has a good selection. Back when I did this bike I chose the Jitensha Studio flat bars. The paint is original.

You did that with a can of Krylon? Absolutely amazing; wonderful job! And those white panniers are the perfect touch. Lucky daughter : )

Love what you did! I've seen those panniers on eBay, I think. They are for vintage motorcycles, correct?

Just posted a new thread about this minty 1986 Miyata 100, which is going off to college with our daughter. Love being able to say we 'got her a Miyata for graduation.' She likes the drop bars and says she doesn't want a rack, but it may get fenders, possibly even Honjos. (She's been very very good.) And thanks again to cb400bill for his help snagging this beauty.

I am thinking seriously of picking up another mixte to fix up for my wife, with North Road bars and panniers as displayed so stylishly in this thread. We don't have a neighborhood boulangerie but I can see her using the bike to pick up our weekly veggies from the CSA dropoff.

My Wife's Mixte "Gomme de visage" moved on last week. My wife never warmed to her after her first ride where she managed to get tossed and a very nasty abrasion to the side of her face as the result. The Name translates to "Face Eraser".

We believe it was a 1984 House brand bike for Gregg's bikes in Seattle. It is a Corsaro "Cabrio". I had been slowly building her up as parts became available. She came nicely outfitted with full set of braze ons including double bottles holders. Suntour ARX derailers front and rear. Diacompe 500 brakes and a nice set of rando bars. As I acquired it the back rim was bent and the front was a cheap replacement.

I was building her out as a Touring bike. I was looking for a set of 7speed STI's for it to make riding it as nice as possible for my wife. This was her first drop bar bike. I found a very nice set of Araya rims and a triple crank just a week before I sold it. I was going to repaint it a deep metallic green with Cream colored head and seat tube's and I was going to paint up a bike for me to match.

The lug work is EXACTLY like the lugs on a 84 Miyata 610 I had and I suspect that Miyata was the builder but could never confirm.

The good news is the new owner is ecstatic with it. So I feel good about that.

Yeah, I bought them on eBay 5-6 years ago. I picked up a couple pair, actually. I think they're Motobecane moped panniers.
