Mixte frames are not appresiated in my opinion and need their own thread
Mixte bikes are said to be the "girls" bike, but in Europe they are very popular with both men and women. Here are some of my awesome Mixte bikes that I ride regularly
Here is my pride and joy mixte, my black Marukin
This is my red Raleigh Rapede

and last but not least, my gold Vista Carrera 7

get on with you mixte self

I have to say, even though I don't currently own a mixte, I do have a fascination with them.
Apparently you do too.
I am rather partial to some of the older euro brands where the drops have been replaced with mustache bars.

there already was a thread devoted to Mixte-worship, if you do an archive search you'll find lots of pics, many from the self-proclaimed "Mr. Mixte" (AKA MHendricks)...funny how they have taken off in popularity, I was given a couple for FREE just a few years ago, that's how undesirable they used to be. But I predicted it to my friends: as soon as the first Fixie-Mixte got the attention of the bar hopping crowd, it was all over.
I failed to corner the market...oh well.

I got these bikes really cheaply at thrift stores awhile back. Hopefully some new Mixte fans will emerge

Here's a quick shot of Mrs. Clouds PH18. I had barely finished wiping it off when I dropped it and started on a P8 to flip. (business before pleasure, don't you know) She's not amused...
I probably payed too much for it (65.) but it's what she wanted so there it is. It's got a loooong way to go. A peddle fell off the first day and I decided that rather than sink a lot of money in this one it was going to be JB weld to the rescue!! I leveled it up, let it set and tested the next day. I NAILED IT!! It's perfect. I got so lucky. (Don't try this at home, kids)

I'd say 9 pages of mixte thread-iness covers it pretty well:

Raleigh Super Record Mixte
Here's a Raleigh Super Record Mixte I picked up on CL that looks like it was never ridden--maybe has 10 miles on it? I don't know if I should keep it all original, or swap out the drops, add fenders and bar end shifters and swap out the tank-like steel wheels. I love the mixte frames. When I do fixed gear conversions on Mixtes, they sell really fast.

What would you swap out the bars in favor of? Some uprights? That bike would look great with upright bars IMO. I love those slashlike reflectors on the rims.
Great looking bike.

handlebar swap
I was thinking of a more upright stem with a moustache handlebar--ala Rivendell style. Then gifting it to my wife in the off chance that she might ride with me

Hey, whatever it takes...We got that bike for her. However she wants it to look is how it's going to look. Anything to keep her on it, I say.

Still in crappy shape; I'll fix her up someday or sell her to someone who will. A 1981 Fuji Royale, pulled from a trash pile at the curb:

I'm a man, but I'll ride my Mixte with pride anywhere; I just think they are the coolest looking frames, mostly because they are just so different... Here is a recent picture of my bike when I rode to, and around the National Cemetery in Grant County Indiana. Not the best picture of the bike,(85 Fuji Sagres) but you get the idea what it looks like. I think it's on the top of page 16 in the old show us your Mixte thread, and about a hundred other places on this site.
I would love to see some more of the old Cross Frame design bikes become more popular again. I find it sad that the Mixte didn't catch on with men more, and be offered in more sizes, as it should have been in my humble opinion.

1975 Supercourse

70s Gitane

Another Supercourse

My daughter's 24" wheel Kuwahara

Peugeot

My other daughter's Schwinn with 650B wheels

I just picked up a Lotus tonight... pics forthcoming

There's major rust on the back rim, scratches here and there etc. etc...
Had the most beautiful pearlescent maroon + purple mix.
