I have a Cinelli one, but I must ask, in the age of helmets, what is the purpose of a cycling cap?

Seriously. I was going to post a thread on this but this shall suffice.

I guess it performs the same practical function as a doo rag and provides a little visor to keep the sun out of your eyes but it looks cool when you stop for beers at the pub and what other reason do you need?

Either we need a "show us your cycling cap" thread, or this one needs to be hijacked...

I have somewhat long hair so I'm always wearing one when wrenching or cleaning my bike outside. I wear them on super hot days when out at the beach or something. Also always carry one in my jersey pocket for when we take stops to eat or hang out. I can ditch the helmet for a few and throw the cap on. What's funny is I hate baseball style caps.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

they're great when it's pissin' down with rain under a helmet.
They also look really good worn as part of a movie costume

You wear a helmet?

What's a helmet have to do with a cap? They fit under a helmet.

The purpose is the same as a baseball cap, to keep the sun out of your eyes. It also helps us follically challenged folk to avoid a sunburn on our noggins.

When it's rainy, when it's not quite cold enough for a skull cap, when you're riding into the sun, when you're riding away from the sun just turn it around to keep the sun off your neck.

I have an Italian Flag cap that I just got for 6 bux on ebay

I can't cover it up with a helmet... then nobody would see how awesome my hat looks

I have many yet I don't wear most of them, as many of them have some sentimental value. For instance, the one my son is wearing in my avatar, an actual 70's cap, was autographed by Eddy himself when I met him. Also, I find that most caps I have just don't fit me, they tend to be too big and look "funny" on me per my daughter, also in my avatar.

I love cycling cap and take any opportunity to wear them around. So much more comfortable than baseball caps which never fit me right.

I placed an order for a Team Z and Peugeot cap
