I can't find the listing anymore, though my recollection is that it had the right (i.e. '73) date codes. I personally wouldn't sweat the consumables, especially since any Cali-roadie worth his/her salt would have customized his/her new Masi before being seen riding it anyway.

Faliero had a thing with Cinelli, so he used 3TTT stuff. Doesn't mean Masis never, ever were equipped with Cinelli, though I'd expect to see that more on an Italian GC than a US one.
I believe the "catalog" saddle on that bike would have been 3TTT and not a Unicanitor, too.

Yeah, ditch the Hunte-Wilde handlebar plugs. Change to a Cinelli No.3 saddle, as the #2's suede went sour fast, and if it had a 3ttt, ditch it as they rarely found a bum that liked them. The bars often got changed out to Merckx bend 3ttt's or #66's. Go to black pedals, Pista version to be like Merckx, place the waterbottle into storage, as it was too pretty back then even, change out the freewheel, 14t just does not cut it, go to a 53t outer ring. And ride primarily training quality weight wheels. Then you are set.

Oh yes, remove the crank dust caps.

And if you were really Southern Cal, fresh handlebar tape for any race of import.

If I were to locate a bike so modded, I would just keep it as is, as that is how it was done.

Clinchers? There was a guy who trained on them on his Masi, for nothing else as it transformed the bike in race trim. I rode it once, it was a pig with the lower pressure wide tires back then.

I spotted that. The right rear and left front pads are swapped. There is a proper set of four, they just aren't installed correctly.
