Why**********?
I just picked up my 74 Varsity in Tiffin, Oh.
(it was listed on CL and my friend scored it for me)
He said it was in great shape....When I saw it I crapped.
It was a rust bucket and tires were flat.
Brought it home and put air in the tires....They held.
Gave the componenets/nuts and bolts a WD40 wash(I know..sorry).
Made a few adjustments and took the bike out for a ride and I loved it.
I have a few nice classic/vintage bike around, but this old varsity stole my heart.
BTW, I do not plan on detailing the bike as I need this one for Va. Beach at the end of the month.(I hope nobody has a keen eye and a good set of bolt cutters there).
To boot, there is a red Tiffin Police bike license sticker on it with the number 0666...
Here is the Lime green Devil......why do I like this bike so much?
Is it the green, or the devil?
\I stole the joker in the spokes idea from a pic I saw here and put some small gold 666 numbers on the top tube for kicks. Those that have seen it like it

That really doesn't look too bad, and the most rusted parts are also the most expendable -- the overweight steel rims and Ashtabula crank. Old Varsinentals do have very nice road manners, although the weight becomes noticeable on a steep climb or a fast sprint.

just remember to most people a bike in "great shape" means the tires hold air and the pedals go around.

I like lime green Schwinns.
I had a lime green Sting Ray as a kid, and the future Mrs. K had a lime green Varsity when we met.
