1993 pinarello Gavia Road bike - $250 (Durham)

Awesome bike! Really wish it still fit me. Components are all Campagnolo, frame has some paint wear and tear, but in great condition outside of the small cosmetic stuff. You can buy it as Christmas gift for yourself or your special family. You gonna definitely enjoy it.

I reached out to the seller and got this reply: " Just for me to be sure you are serious about buying it, pay a deposit up front, part of the money just for me to be sure you are serious about buying it and then we will meet ."

This is a scam, right?

Post was tagged for removal so I'd say yes it's a scam. Having said that, in the past I've sent money to show I was serious. I've even offered to prepay completely before driving.

One way to check for a scam is to see what else seller is selling. If they've had stuff up for a while they're usually not scammers. Also with FB you can sometimes see a profile. All comes down to gut-instinct and having funds to risk.

"This is a scam, right?"

He may be the nicest guy you'll ever meet, but he's incredibly naive too, not to mention really proud of his Pinarello. He has to risk wasting some of his time to sell this.

I just assumed asking for money prior to meeting was a big red flag. I didn't realize that was a thing.

However, the poor grammar and typos are red flag number two. Given that it looks too good to be true and someone else flagged it, I'm gonna run away.

Seller bases value on "Bicycle Blue Book" which I find is usually low. Also I think seller is confused or crankset not original (or my math is bad)

1993 Diamond Back Expert TG Road Bike - $150 (Marysville)

Early 90s Diamond Back Expert TG Road Bike with 21 speeds. Selling because it was my college bike and I no longer need it. The bike is in excellent shape for it's age. Gearing is smooth and solid. Wheels aren't too worn. Cosmetically, even the grips and seat are still in good shape. Should be a buy and ride bike for you. I'm about 6' 1" and this bike was a bit too small for me. Still road it fine, but those looking for the perfect fit I'd recommend this frame size for someone below 6" and about 5' 5". Below is a link for the BBB of the bike, where I got my current listing price as well as exact component info.

https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/valu...product/42259/

Like I said, very solid bike. Just won't use it after graduation. If you've trying to find a bike to make those 25 minute walks around campus faster, this is your girl.

Curiously worded ad. Says "Every item is checked by Bikeatoga’s staff and sold as is" . That begs the question; - If it's sold as is, what were they checking for???
Also I thought 420's were steel.

Anyway, nice enough price

I want to see THIS Derailleur

https://sacramento.craigslist.org/bi...418082032.html

Selling my crust lightening Bolt, disk brake version with the really pretty brazing. Need some money for my wedding and I already have too many bikes so here it is:

The rear derailleur has been replaced with an indexed bar setup, and the front derailleur isn't included because it has sentimental value. Because I'm sentimentally attached to bike parts. I can give you something from my box-o-parts if you want.

This is a scam, right?
If you're serious about the bike, there's no harm in responding that prepayment is off the table, but you'd like to meet at a neutral location (police station parking lot?) to look at the bike. I might offer to prepay for something I really want and assess the risk on a case-by-case basis, but I would never honor a request for sight-unseen prepayment.
