The CL jerk is Spartacus

He's identified himself https://cleveland.craigslist.org/bik/1272806190.html
This is looking more like an unemployed nit wit with a lot of time on his hands. I think I'm not going to give him the attention he's craving.

Bikes: too many

I don't really mind the 'police' on CL, some of them are pretty amusing. If they're right it may save a sucker some money, if they're wrong the only people who would be influenced are those who wouldn't know enough to appreciate the item anyway.

What does get me with some people on CL, is they'll post something and when you respond, they'll send you a link to an Ebay auction, or some commercial resale shop a couple hundred miles away. Happened several times to me. I normally flag them as prohibited, and hope everyone else it happens to does the same.

Some people are just impatient I think, A while ago I was looking for another sailboat, and found one on CL emailed about it. The next day I checked email, and had two responses from the guy, dated a half hour apart, sent an hour before I checked, first one had minimal information, no address or phone number, just "three blocks north of the light in *town name*, turn left go straight till you'll see the boat in the yard" second one (only a half hour later!) said "If you're not interested why in the F waste my time" That boat was relisted twice, and still sits at his house, so I assume it was business as usual with him.

Ken.

I never really understood the flagging process. Can I just go flag whatever listing I want without repercussion?

Live and let live.I have found some great items on CL and have walked away from not so great items.I dont care if someone is selling items for what i think is overpriced.Nobody puts a gun to my head and makes me purchase an item.I think CL is great because it gives me an opportunity to see items that might normally only be listed in small local papers.

From: Chicago, the leafy NW side

Bikes: 1974 Motobecane Grand Record, 1987 Miyata Pro, 1988 Bob Jackson Lady Mixte (wife's), others in the family

On Chicago we have a frequent CL seller who is widely suspected of being a thief, or at least of selling stolen bikes. At minimum he's a complete jerk. He posts frequent ads with photos showing no detail, describes them in very vague ways like 'rides really nice' and also with no detail. Then if you email or call him (I've done both) and ask for details he abuses you. Apparently he is very slippery when you deal with him in person as well, and the bikes show signs of fresh rattle-can paint jobs. So he really seems to be hiding something, like anything which could specifically identify the bikes.

He'll never be caught so if someone on CL wants to 'jam a stick in his spokes' I'm all for it.
