Can you identify this?

Hey,
I recently acquired this bike. I posted it in another thread and all I learned was that it's a "frankenbike". I would appreciate help in identifying it. The fork has a decal that says "Panasonic"...and the googling that I did I learned that they stopped making bikes in the U.S. The bike is lacking a nameplate and other decals which lead me to believe that the frame was repainted.....

It does have quite an assortment of components...a Uniglide Shimano 400 front derailer, and a Suntour Sprint rear derailer......center pull front brakes, and side pull rear brakes....

It's currently at my LBS getting brake housing and cables installed. (I'd do that myself if I knew anything about bicycle mechanics)

When I did take it in, the mechanic looked surprised and asked where I found it. He said that it's in remarkably good condition..........but that's all I know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
