The 1000 gets fendered!

I stopped by the LBS to get some fenders the other day, and was just about to walk out the door with the Serfas dull finish hybrid fenders. I wanted some silver fenders for the Miyata, so I figured that was all I'd be able to find.

We talked for a while like we often do, before I leave. I aksed, "Are you sure don't have any skinnier ones that would still clear a set of 32's??" He gets this look on his face like a light bulb came on, hehe, and holds up a finger as if to say wait a minute.

From the back room he pulls out a set of new SKS silver fenders, and offers them for the same price. I said "Uhh, YEP!" and I walked out with them. They came off a recently sold 09 Raleigh One Way. The buyer apparently didn't want fenders, so their loss is my gain. Oh well, not that big a deal I guess, but they're stil MUCH nicer than the Serfas. Updated pics!!,,,,BD

Next maybe I will break down and get some matching wrap for it? Local price for Brooks wrap is $89 before tax. OUCH!,,,,BD

Then you will need the velo orange mud flaps, a Nitto rack, and brown hoods.

To protect your bike, get a front mud flap. I really like the Gilles Berthoud from Wallbike - lowest cost leather flap. To protect the person who's following your from rear wheel spray, get a rear flap.

Sweet!
+1 for the front flap. Keeps all sorts of stuff off the drivetrain & bb. Not so sure about the rear flap... in fact, I've never seen one either...

Those fenders are looking nice. Even if the other guy did not want fenders, wouldn't you at least take them home and keep them just in case??? That seems sort of dumb.
