Spoke Question
I have a 27" (630mm) rim .... I have to replace the spokes....what size do I need? Same size for the rear tire?

It depends on the specifics of your rim and, even more, your hub. Easiest way to do it is just measure the old spokes. Or measure the rim and the hub and go to a spoke calculator program.

Hello. rhm is correct it depends on many variables. the shape of the rim, aero, box, convex. the diameter of the hub flange, and distance of it from the center of the axle (locknut to locknut). most older rear wheels usually had two different sizes, the spokes on the drive side being shorter. the front usually only one. if the wheel is already built you can just measure the spokes, or ask the shop you are buying them from to do it. if the wheel is already apart you need to start from scratch and use all the above measurements to calculate the length.

If you're replacing all the spokes you may find it just as cheap to buy a prebuilt 27" wheel. What type of hub (freewheel/hub, #speeds, etc) and what kind of bike? Esp if you can replace a steel rim w/alum at the same time.
