Pinarello identification -
I picked up a Pinarello in my size today for a great deal. It's beautiful and significantly lighter than my current daily rider, a tre-tubi Bianchi. Only thing is I can't figure out exactly what it is. It looks to be one of their nicer models, but some of the details don't add up or point to a re-decal or possibly full re-paint. So, anyone want to take a shot as to the model/date of this Pinarello? I'd much appreciate any suggestions or info. Some relevant details:
Teaser shot: (I'll post a nice drive-side shot once I get it cleaned up and replace a few things)

The seat stay caps (& the fork crown) are engraved "GP", not "PT". GP stands for Giovanni Pinarello, the founder of the company.
I'm thinking it's a 1991 or later, and I am basing this on the decal on the down tube, between the shifter and head tube that says, Campione Olimpico '84 (commemorating Alexi Grewal's 1984 Olympic Gold) & Campione del Mondo '90 (who won a World Championship on a Pinarello, I do not know)
The fork crown indicates (to me) that it's an early '80s model. By the mid-to-late '80s, I think that Pinarello had gone to a more sloped fork crown. But there's that darned decal....
This is a tough one.

I think you'll find it's a record frame, from 1981 or a wee bit earlier. Mine's an 82, and it has braze-on shifter bosses and cable guides. I think 1982 was the year that stuff got added. It's definitely a repaint (and thus a re-sticker) - there's no way there's be that much lettering or paint left if it were original (it fell off if you breathed hard on it).
Well done. For ride, these are as good as it gets.

And thank you Jeff! I suspected an early 80's model with a repaint/re-sticker and the details you posted look identical to my frame. Do you have any full-bike pictures of yours?

There are too many discrepancies to say this is post 1990. Wrong fork crown. Campagnolo dropouts versus Pinarello (and Porta Catena no less). Wrong tubing decal. No front derailleur braze-on.
Given the Porta catena dropout, fork crown and no front derailleur braze-on, I'd place it early 1980s. However, the pump peg is inconsistent for the era, making the other braze-ons and even the chrome suspect.
I wouldn't even want to guess at the model, given the possible changes, though you could check for the helical ridges in the bottom of the steerer which would indicate at least a Treviso.

I'm going to say it's a 1981 Super Record Special. The seatstays and chainstays are all chrome underneath that paint, as is the fork.

Thanks for weighing in everyone!
Yeah, I think at least that much is chrome. The main tubes appear to be chromed as well. I'm going to add that to the original post.
Just the paint, thankfully. I did manage to break the binder bolt after that picture was taken though ;-)
Interesting - in what way is it inconsistent? Were they placing them on the seat tube or just not using them at all?

I'll agree with 1981.
The 84/90 decal is just so weird, to me.
If I were doing a refin, I'd have left it off, knowing that the bike predated it.
