retro upgrades

I'm new here so please don't shoot me right away. I have a 80's model khs aero sport. It's chromoly and lugged but not the best. I'm looking for downtube shifter bosses. Can I get these anywhere?
Thanks

Get ready to taste the flames baby! Just kidding... can I ask why you want to install shifter bosses instead of using clamp on down tube shifters?

The bike has a clamp on suntour setup on the stem. It's 6 speed indexed. I want to change it over to a 7spd rsx setup that uses shimano downtube system. I might be able to put the 7spd shifters on the suntour bracket.
If that doesnt work, where can I find a clamp-on for the downtube? e-bay?

Hmmm... first I assume that you are going to use it in friction mode since you all mixing Suntour and Shimano?

If thats the case you could use any clamp on friction shifters that you can find. I think the Shimano ones could potentially be a problem because they work with a different shaped boss.

One other problem with a clamp on is the potential for it to slip on the down tube so you will want to take that into consideration.

I'm changing the whole setup to the shimano rxs. The fd is friction. The rd is indexed. icycleusa is out of stock for the shimano clamp-on.

Oh, I understand now.

I realize this may not be what you are looking for, but it is an option. Rivendell sells bar end shift pods that you can mount your RSX levers onto. https://www.rivbike.com/products/list...product=17-068

The bar ends would work. I've found a bunch of clamp-ons on ebay. NIB, but there from foreign countries.
I guess I would get them. I'm wanting to keep it old school setup looking.

The frame is not too old. The stem shifter setup should, like barcons, have a downtube cable stop in or near the location of downtube shifters, right? Since that's not brazed on, it is clamp-on, and there should be a stop of some sort on the underside of the downtube. That should prevent the clamp-on shifters from slipping down the down tube.

Huh? 99%? Not above the equator, anyway.

What do you want for your Premier Garden sheds?

Barcons would be the simplest upgrade.
