Advice for lacing a Brooks
I want to lace up the sides on my B.66 They splay out too much when I ride it.
I'm planning to use a small drill bit to make the holes, and using proofide'd hemp twine to tie it. Any suggestions or pointers?

I did it to an older saddle I had. I used these pics for guidance. Also, I used leather vs hemp. You should be able to get some in a sporting goods store selling baseball gloves. The leather string is sold with a repair tool and I believe it is marketed by Rawlings.

Hemp tightens with humidity.
An old shipmate of mine made us all fancy knotted and beaded neck thingys once. One by one we came out of the shower looking for a knife or scissors to get them off.

Definitely get a leather punch. They make some that squeeze together like pliers -- you won't even have to remove your saddle. They're not expensive and anyplace that sells tools should have one.
