Have to say I think your Super Leggera is a much nicer bike aesthetically; lugged, chrome fork. While the newer tig frames are nothing special. You should keep your old one to ride when the novelty wears off with the RP.

I'm pretty sure you're correct here. It seems identical, just odd how it was left without an actual model/name.

And I agree, but I just don't see myself riding it because of the size and value. The size makes it hard for me to ride to work on (20ish miles) and I'm uncomfortable leaving it locked up when I go on errands. Mainly because I locked it up on Tuesday, came back 30 minutes later, and my lock was halfway cut through. Not cool. As much as I like looking at the bike, it'd serve someone else better.

If it's a warranty replacement frame, it would make sense that there is no model name. Manufacturers often used the same frame for multiple models, varying only the components. By placing a model name on a warranty frame, the distributor would have to stock more replacements. As a distributor, the last thing you want is a customer complaining because you gave him an inferior frame, just because it has a model name that's lower in the hierarchy. In reality, the frame could be no different, save for the name, but customers are not always that knowledgeable. The simplest and most cost effective solution is to stock replacement frames without model names.

Also, given that this is a warranty replacement, it's quite possible that the frame represents something newer than 1997. The distributor may have run out of the proper replacements, if Bianchi was experiencing more than isolated quality problems.

Not necessarily. Pinarello is still Italian, Colnago finally switched, but only last year. Not sure on a 1999 Bianchi, but I wouldn't assume it was English/ISO.

The bike in the picture above - 2002 Bianchi Veloce, made in Italy. At the time you could buy a Bianchi Vigorelli with Reynolds 631 tubing and Ultegra made in their Taiwan facility or a Veloce with Bianchi branded Dedacciai tubing equipped with Campagnolo Veloce made in the Italian facility both for around $1450. I had to special order the Veloce in celeste because the shop only carried the Vigorelli.

hi! i too am looking for info on my Bianchi. I acquired the frame and fork several years ago, built it up to do some 'cross racing and play in the woods..rode 3 time, got real sick, etc, etc. Anyway, someone who bought my Faggin is looking to buy this one after I mentioned it, fiqure I better find out more. On the bottom bracket it has 693, and 55. Am I right to assume 693 is the production date, and 55 comfirms the size that the ruler tells me? If anyone could or would review the pics and give me a some info I would appreciate it. Thanks!

nice Bianchi. too bad I am broke we would be talking. this is all shimano?

the frame is just what it says on the TT decal a Mega Pro L (the L standing for L other bikes in the Reparto Corse series were Mega Pro XL extra light) and is a REAL Reparto Corse frame. it looks like a '99 model year and the tubing is just listed as Bianchi MegaPro chromoly tubing. MegaPro refers to the shape of the DT and other performance features. this isn't the value forum but I am thinking....

the OEM fork was painted so I am not sure if that is the right fork
