My vintage NOS frame/fork
Hello Everybody +I was trolling through ebay a few weeks ago and stumbled across something different. a gentleman in the Netherlands was selling off some of his older cycling goodies from his business. among them was this beautiful frame and fork. actually this one is different I lost the auction to some snipers and the seller took pity on me and offered a consolation prize.
this is a Cornelo "Triomphe" frame from about 1987. as you can see in the pics it has never even been built up, the BB was never faced n chased nor was the headtube. the frame is Columbus Alle tubing and is 'crimped' or corregated, (I forget the fancy term Colnago uses) with 6 groves down the lenght of the tube. it has a frnt der braze on, and the chain and seat are chromed from the bridges to the dropouts. the fork is 531 blades with a very sleak Zues 2000 crown. now if I can just find some good looking, little used Victory and/or Triomphe parts to hang on it. I neglected to get the angles but I am awaiting a reply from the seller.
as I find goodies to build it up with I'll try and keep this thread up to date. however since a may have totaled my BTV (Bianchi transport vehicle) on friday so it might be awhile before I can start building it up.

I've not heard of Cornelo before but that is a pretty frame. Very nice consolation prize.

Very nice frame. Couple of items. My son has a buddy that has a Cornelo track frame, and it is British threaded. His father told me he purchased it from a bike shop in the Netherlands. Very nice frame for track use, although a little flexy in the front fork. His report, not mine. I have a friend that might have a complete "Victory" group including a bottom bracket. The challenge there is the Italian threading on the Campy set. Double check what you have, and PM me if you want me to follow up. Again, you have a pretty frame there, that is for sure!

very interesting: Cornelo is often mentioned as one of those "faked Colnago" brands that were sold mainly in the Benelux market, yet here this has a Zeus fork crown (got to be a replacement fork since it's 531, no?) and no fake "club" or "spade" lug cutouts. And the decal says it's made in Italy. Nice frame, bet it's gonna ride nice, too.

Very, very nice!

Very nice looking frame you have there. Can't wait to see it built up!

Yeah, I recognize the picture location. I have seen him sell a lot of really nice Gazelle frames too.

I think I may have bought my Gazelle from the same seller.
I think your cornelo would look smashing with a first gen. chorus group. I have one, in absolutely fabulous shape, totally complete down to the headset, pedals, seatpost.. everything.. wheels too. It's on a bike I am trying to sell but I think I'll have to part it out. It's a far better performing group than victory or triomphe, more reliable and in my opinion way prettier. PM me if interested.

Morning everyone thank you so much for you wonderful compliments/input. lets see if I can keep this in order. the fork was the one offered with this frame and is a bit nicer looking than the sloping crown on the one from the auction. wether or not it is a 'replacement' I would not know. yes Cornelos were built in Italy or this small company in the Netherlands named after the owners some (Corne). I have always wanted a 'corregated' frame and could never afford a Colnago and this is a rare make so somewhat nicer. yes Frans was very kind to offer me this and great seller to deal with, and good job spotting his 'studio' *giggle*
Chorus would cerntainly look great on any bike. but I think Victory might be more period correct (this could be agrued) but I certainly would condiser an excellent condition Chorus group.

What a stunner!
There is also something about your frame that reminded me of BigBossMan's Dancelli, don't know what, maybe the bold paint job. Anyway, I hit the GoogleTubes and came up with this:
Dancelli Cornelo frame

Another hit suggests that Dancelli is made by Cicli Baldo Giovanni in Trento, Italy.
Unfortunately, no other info about the Dancelli-Cornelo relationship. Perahap some of the Italian bike C&V gurus would know more.
At any rate, beautiful frame; can hardly wait for the build pics.

Chorus v. Victory is more a matter of level-appropriateness rather than period. This frame is in the Centaur/Chorus/Record category (not a Shimano fan so I won't claim it's also in teh Ultegra/DuraAce range, too, you didn't hear that from me!). Many people over the years have bought high-end frames and equipped them as new with middle or upper middle range gruppos, so Victory is not a wrong answer.
My 1980's Mondonico came to me equipped with early '80s 600 pre-Ultegra, friction 6207-series parts. I felt it was mid-range since my Trek had come with that stuff, but the man I bought the Mondo from had raced on that kit for 2 years.

Sorry to hear about the Bianchi. This should do quite nicely. Looks like maybe 73 degrees on the seat and 74 on the head.
Have you considered Athena? Might be off by a couple years, but it works nicely - and everything but the rear derailleur looks great.

Hi Bianchigirl - sorry to hear about your BTV - whatever happened? Are you OK?
Your new frame is beautiful and very unusual. Campagnolo Chorus or higher gets my vote!

Looks like we all want to spend BianchiGirll's money.
To that end, I know where you can get a complete 9-speed Chorus grouppo, including a Voloce Italian BB and set of Velomax Orion II wheels for $625 shipped. (not mine and I didn't want to out the source just yet
) Oh, PM sent.

It should be noted that group is a triple group, though that is a very very good price.
