52 cm Team Miyata Splined Triple Butted

This is a long shot. Does anyone have a 52 cm Team Miyata. 1986 or newer with Splined Triple Butted tubing? I've been looking for one of these for a while. I really just want the frame/fork/headset. If you've got one laying around lemme know! Even if you have pics of one that you have no intention of letting go, I wanna see it!

Pics of my '89 Koga-Miyata Full Pro in this thread. Same tubing.

I wish I did. I have an 86 Pro Miyata, and it's the same frame with different dropouts (Suntour versus Shimano). Fantastic frame.

I bought a really clean 54cm 86 Team Miyata for my son at the begining of summer. All Suntour Superbe and Sprint with Mavic MA40's and Cinelli bar and stem. $300. Great bike.

BTW, here's an NOS Team frame in my favorite ebay store. It's a 58. They had a 56 I was drooling at for over a year. Seems it finally sold.

Lazy...I keep looking at your Koga Miyata. It's gotta be one of the most beautiful bikes I've seen in a while.

I've seen the Team Miyata on ebay. Super nice. If the weight is really to be believed, it's slightly lighter than a Surly Pacer frame and fork, but twice the price!

I started this thread because I was beginning to think that Miyata didn't actually distribute the 52 cm Team Miyata. I've never seen one anywhere!

Use this site, they often turn up on eBay or CL and you might get lucky and a BF member will be closeby to help you out:

https://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cg...mit=++++go++++

There are 2 54cm bikes out there right now, one on eBay and one in minnesota but it might as well be dreamland, the seller is asking for $1900

If I'm not mistaken, 86 is when Miyata started using splined tubing.

NO .. they began using it prior to '80. Most models had it from 81 and beyond. Team & Pros were exceptions from 1978 thru '84. 1985 had the proprietary Miyata Brand spline as did '86. The point is that the earlier Teams '81 - '84 were better bikes by many accounts, they used Tange tubing even though it wasn't labled as such. Not that such tubing is better, just a choice the Co. made to keep 'em lighter I suppose or perhaps availability issues and there was a relationship between them. Tange and Miyata labled tubes came, went and reappeared throughout the years as did any mention of splines and for that matter double or triple butted tubings ,two of mine aren't as the cats. state exactly. By '85 Miyatas no longer were in the pro circuit. From prior to '81 - '84 they were the first, last and only Japan built bike in world class road races. I can see why you want a Team but the splined thing isn't a compelling enough reason ... all things considered. I've a number of Miyatas.

If you decide to grow a bit more and would consider earlier models, I would then have an early 80's team Miyata frame/fork to sell to you (I think it is a 56 or a 58 cm C/C). Technically it is very sound and well looked after, but the paint is a bit rough as it has crossed the Atlantic countless times, plus has ferried along in trunks and on roof racks on the way to rides all over the place. Like Old and New, I too have always heard that the frames ridden by the pro team in Europe in the early 80's were perhaps a bit better bikes than the later ones.

You might have more luck finding something like a Panasonic Team bike in a smaller size, I see them quite often.

There is a 51cm Team bike in Albany for a very reasonable price: https://albany.craigslist.org/bik/1365724584.html

I saw a 52 on eBay some months ago. The seller was asking a mint for it. Unsurprisingly, it didn't sell the first time through.

That Panasonic is beautiful. If it were local, I am almost certain that I would snap it up.

I saw a Team Miyata at a swap meet about a year and half ago.
It may have a been a 54; seller was asking $200.
Long shot: try posting a WTB here:
