Nashbar help

I dont know anything about it so any info on it would be nice, its a Nashbar Road 5000. My wife bought this for me about 2 weeks ago. I took it to my LBS for a tune up and was told by 2 of the guys at the shop it was a really nice bike. I would really like to know when it was made.

They sold them from their catalogue around 1984/5. I even knew a bike shop mechanic who bought one.

Odd place for a pump.

Looks like a decent steel road bike, nicely equipped and was ridden in the drops. From here, it looks well-maintained, and it's the first time I've ever seen a kickstand like that, and I see two of them on BF the same day. I like it. Looks like a nice commuter, but one that didn't see a lot of use, or was well kept if it did.

84/85? with what looks like rx100 and daul pivot brakes? a pic of the drive side would be useful so we can see the crank and derailluers. I agree about the pump the OO likely bought one that was too long for the toptube. real nice looking bike.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

Components are interchangeable I'm betting the OO upgraded to dual pivot rx100s.

Rx100 is original. It's a 1991 model, orignal price $519 but closed out at year end for $349. I've never seen a 1984/1985 bicycle with welded, oversize, CrMo tubing.

Really? I just tossed one in the garbage last week. They tend to rip up the frame pretty badly (at least cosmetically), and aren't very stable what with being on the far end of the bike.

You're right, the 85 model was lugged and didn't have the wishbone seatstays. I didn't think they were still selling these bikes into the 90's though.

That stem looks pretty high. Lower it if it's past the safety line. It would be a bummer to crash at the wrong time.

Suntour had something similar called roundtech.
